A complete summary of Lucina’s performance in Super Smash Bros. 4 can be found on the character’s information page. It includes strengths and weaknesses, AI quirks, and an archive of tournament representation and results.
Stats & Bonus Effects
Lucina’s best equipment setup involves a balance between Attack and Defense (+60 Attack / +60 Defense / 0 Speed). In terms of bonus effects, Auto-heal capability, Lifesteal, and Improved escapability are essential.
Lucina benefits from the Iai Counter custom move. Whereas the default version activates on frame six, Iai Counter activates on frame three and inflicts much more damage and knockback. Keep in mind that some tournaments ban Iai Counter due to its strength.
Recommended Training
An amiibo becomes strongest if it is mirror matched all the way to Level 50. This is done to teach the AI which moves to rely on; after reaching Level 50, it will use this training as a base and expand upon it with matchup experience. While training your amiibo, do not play aggressively or go off-stage; instead, remain grounded and keep the following moves in mind:
- Neutral options: side special (Dancing Blade). Lucina’s jabs and tilts are all good – but they’re completely outclassed by her side special. A well-trained Lucina amiibo will rely primarily on Dancing Blade. Its speed and power is unrivaled, and whether or not Lucina can successfully link Dancing Blade attacks together is often the deciding factor of a match. Make sure to strike with all four hits as often as you can.
- Main KO moves: forward smash (Dragon Killer) and down special (Iai Counter). Lucina’s forward smash is one of her fastest and most powerful attacks. When your amiibo is at high percentages, start attacking with forward smash. Iai Counter is another excellent KO option, but it may be difficult for you to nail its timing. Again, if you can’t properly time the attack, try slow mode. If you’re not playing on the Wii U version of the game, you can just pause repeatedly to see what your amiibo is going to do.
- Moves to avoid: neutral special (Shield Breaker). If used too often against her, your Lucina amiibo will use aerial Shield Breaker attacks at inappropriate times. It’s best to avoid this move altogether.
