Stats & Bonus Effects

R.O.B.’s best equipment setup balances Attack and Defense (+90 Attack / +90 Defense / -60 Speed) at the cost of Speed. In terms of bonus effects, Auto-heal capability, Lifesteal, and Improved escapability are essential.

R.O.B. benefits from the Fire Gyro custom move. The AI will often charge its Gyro but forget to use it; Fire Gyro for some reason encourages the AI to fire it once the move is fully charged.

Recommended Training

An amiibo becomes strongest if it is mirror matched all the way to Level 50. This is done to teach the AI which moves to rely on; after reaching Level 50, it will use this training as a base and expand upon it with matchup experience. While training your amiibo, do not play aggressively or go off-stage; instead, remain grounded and keep the following moves in mind:

  • Neutral options: jab, forward tilt, up tilt, down tilt, and neutral special (Robo Beam). R.O.B. has several damage-racking moves at his disposal. R.O.B.’s jab is his fastest attack, possessing average damage and knockback properties. Forward tilt has a longer reach and can be angled, while up tilt and down tilt are more situational depending on the opponent’s position. Robo Beam should be used occasionally and from afar.
  • Main KO moves: up smash. R.O.B.’s up smash balances power and speed (although it’s still somewhat lacking in terms of speed), making it his best KO option. Forward smash can work too, but is much slower. It can be angled downward at the ledge to edge-guard recovering opponents.
