Nintendo Direct – November 2015 Recap

The following is an archived post from the Amiibo Dojo. It has been uploaded to the Exion Vault for referential purposes and retains its original publication date; some of the post’s links may not function currently or exist at all.

Hey there! I’m here today…no, not with a character guide, actually. I’m doing something I’ve never done before. I’m going to be recapping the November Nintendo Direct that happened today. What a day it’s been. We’ve got new amiibo, a new Smash 4 character, and game information galore. Let’s get started.

The Nintendo Direct began with the revelation of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. As its name suggests, the game features enhanced visuals and a “few new surprises”. Dataminers had found a Wii U HOME Menu icon for the game a while back, so this wasn’t a huge surprise. What was a huge surprise, though, was that the game will be packaged with a Wolf Link amiibo.

The game will also be capable of reading the Link, Zelda, Toon Link, Sheik, and Ganondorf amiibo from the Super Smash Bros. line. What exactly they’ll do is anyone’s guess. As a matter of fact, we still don’t know exactly what the Wolf Link figure will do, but what we do know is two things: the Wolf Link amiibo saves data that “can be used in the upcoming Zelda title for Wii U”, and that the Wolf Link amiibo is being sold in a bundle with Twilight Princess HD. That bundle was being sold on Amazon earlier today, but it appears to have sold out. Shocker.

Nintendo also revealed a “Den of Trials” coming to The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes. This level has 30 individual stages within it, and the update that brings the Den of Trials will also add two new outfits to the game: a Linebeck outfit and a Fierce Deity Link outfit. A Splatoon update was also released, which includes two new stages and over 30 new outfits. The game will continue to receive updates until January 2016.

A new portal website for Super Mario Maker was also announced. You’ll be able to use your phone to bookmark levels to play on your Wii U. Nintendo also showed off a bunch of indie games including FAST Racing NEO and Terraria, among others. Furthermore, Nintendo talked about the upcoming releases Xenoblade Chronicles X, Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival, Star Fox Zero, Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash, and Mario and Luigi: Paper Jam. They also discussed a new Shadow Mewtwo Pokken Tournament amiibo card that’s going to be included with “first print” versions of the game.

Nintendo also went over the titles Final Fantasy Explorers, which releases on January 26th in the USA, and Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest. Each game features a different story, and if you buy one game, you’ll be able to get the other for a reduced price of 20 bucks. Not a bad deal.

Oh, and we also got the news that Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, and Pokemon Yellow will all release on the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console on February 27th, 2016. They’ll even allow you to trade with others via wireless communication!

Lastly, Nintendo talked about Hyrule Warriors Legends, which now features a female version of Link named Linkle. Er…not the best name for a female version of Link, but…something tells me that she’s going to be appearing in future Zelda titles.

Now it’s time to talk about the new amiibo. Because we’ve got a lot. The aforementioned Wolf Link amiibo was revealed, and as far as I know, it’s exclusive to a bundle. Then we have Gold Mega Man, who’s also exclusive to a bundle – namely, the Mega Man Legacy Collection bundle. It includes the Gold Mega Man amiibo, as well as the Mega Man Legacy Collection game for Nintendo 3DS. We’ve also got Wave 2 of the Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival amiibo and Wave 2 of the Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer amiibo cards. The Animal Crossing amiibo figures include Kicks, Celeste, and Mr. Resetti.

The legendary Lucas amiibo was finally given an HD image. And it looks excellent. I’m a huge MOTHER 3 fan, having played and beaten the game over six times. It’s been a month or two since I’ve played it, though, so it looks like I’ll need to play it a seventh time to rekindle the hype! I’ll be releasing a Lucas guide very soon, don’t worry! Lucas and the Animal Crossing amiibo will be making their debut in the US on January 22nd, 2016. Meanwhile, Japan gets Lucas on December 17th. I might have to import…

And lastly, we’ve got a new Super Smash Bros. fighter – Cloud! It’s so weird to see my username appear in that image. It’s…it’s weird. Cloud’s from Final Fantasy. Don’t know much about the guy, honestly, I’m just happy that we’ve got a new character.

Super Smash Bros. will be having a Super Smash Bros. Nintendo Direct in December. I’ll be covering that Nintendo Direct as well, so stay tuned. Thanks for reading!
