How to train a Palutena amiibo in Super Smash Bros. 4

A complete summary of Palutena’s performance in Super Smash Bros. 4 can be found on the character’s information page. It includes strengths and weaknesses, AI quirks, and an archive of tournament representation and results.

Stats & Bonus Effects

Palutena’s best equipment setup concentrates on Attack and Defense (+80 Attack / +80 Defense / -40 Speed) at the cost of Speed. In terms of bonus effects, Auto-heal capability, Lifesteal, and Improved escapability are essential.

Palutena benefits from the Angelic Missile and Jump Glide custom moves. The former provides more reliable recovery, while the latter grants increased horizontal and vertical distance.

Recommended Training

An amiibo becomes strongest if it is mirror matched all the way to Level 50. This is done to teach the AI which moves to rely on; after reaching Level 50, it will use this training as a base and expand upon it with matchup experience. While training your amiibo, do not play aggressively or go off-stage; instead, remain grounded and keep the following moves in mind:

  • Neutral options: jab, forward tilt, down tilt, and neutral special (Autoreticle). Palutena’s jab is good at racking up damage on its own. This trait is supported by Palutena’s tilts. Although they’re slow, they have lasting hitboxes that can catch foes off-guard. Autoreticle is a useful three-hit projectile helps apply shield pressure.
  • Main KO moves: up smash. All three of Palutena’s smash attacks are slow and tough to land, but Palutena’s up smash is the least slow and tough to land. It lacks horizontal range but has huge vertical range. Forward smash is another option for grounded opponents: just be wary of its startup and ending lag.
