Hey guys! I’ve been busy as ever working behind-the-scenes to make this place wonderful. As you can see, I’ve added a pretty cool new banner that changes every time you refresh it. There are around five unique banner images, and more to come…but anyway, I figured I’d make this post to tell you guys a bit of what I’ve been up to!
Super Smash Bros. Patch 1.1.6
First, and most importantly, patch 1.1.6 has been announced for Super Smash Bros. Slated for release sometime this month (May), the update claims to “balance the characters”. Dataminers have found that the only character changed in the patch is Bayonetta, but this could just be a fake-out. It’s entirely possible that there are other changes, too.
The last patch, 1.1.5, changed a lot in the amiibo metagame. For example, Ness’ AI was nerfed – it’s now not nearly as smart and dominating as it once was – and he’s no longer a top tier amiibo. Some other examples? Kirby, Pac-Man, Duck Hunt, and Link’s smash attacks were strengthened, amiibo started grabbing more often…I could go on and on.
It’s possible that 1.1.6 changes things up in the metagame. I don’t want to work on new guides only for them to possibly become irrelevant after the update, so until the release of 1.1.6, I won’t be releasing any new training guides. However, I will be doing a lot of work around the Amiibo Dojo to make it a more streamlined, pleasant experience, so I hope you enjoy those changes!
More Pac-Man Training
I’ve been doing a lot of work with Pac-Man recently. He’s one of the worst amiibo in the game due to his horrible AI and slow grab, but I’m determined to make him work somehow. He’s been a tough cookie so far – the latest problem is that he will not shield at all. He’ll dodge, but he won’t shield. This is a big problem for me.
I did around ten total games of shield practice, and I made sure to KO him with the explosion from my Explosive perfect shield. And he won’t do it! I’m completely baffled. I’ve never seen an amiibo do this before and not respond to shield practice games at all. I’ll be sure to keep you guys updated.
Patreon Changes
As you may or may not know, Amiibo Dojo does have a Patreon account (which I will not be linking here – you’ll find out in a few sentences). I opened it so I could raise funds for streaming equipment, which would allow me to run interactive amiibo training and tournament streams. I feel like that would really help bring the site together, and it’s been a personal goal of mine.
Patreon is not working out so great at the moment. There have been a few kind donors, which I really appreciate, but I didn’t realize that Patreon was monthly-obligation only. When I found that out, it all started to make sense – people rightfully didn’t want to do monthly things. I am very likely going to close my Patreon page and open up a direct, no-obligation PayPal donation link in the near future. I think this would be a lot more convenient for everyone, and give people more freedom.
The only problem is, I’m not sure how to close Patreon and cancel donors. Everyone who did donate will continue to receive their rewards, though. But hey, I’ll figure it out as I always do. A big thanks to everyone who did donate.
We’re just about done here! Thanks for reading as always! As I said, I’m going to be doing a lot of work to make this place even greater. Stay awesome, guys!
