The Gold Glider is one of the most elusive kart pieces in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it can only be unlocked by collecting a massive 5,000 coins (it was 10,000 in the original Mario Kart 8)! Though you could just race with friends for a few hundred hours, there are faster ways to farm coins in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
Method #1: Automatic
The first method of farming coins is to create a local four-player race (preferably on the same console). Switch each player’s smart steering and automatic acceleration to on (configurable via pressing the Start button during kart selection) and make sure each character’s top speed is different. Turn on 200cc, turn off COM racers, and turn off items. Then continuously race on Mute City and let the game handle the rest! Since smart steering and auto-acceleration are on, the racers will complete the course without the need to press a single button. They tend to veer off to the side, but this is actually a good thing — Mute City is chock-full of colorful platforms that rack up coins quickly.
Method #2: Manual
Another idea is to play on Baby Park at 200cc difficulty. It takes about one minute to complete all seven laps, so that’s about ten coins per minute. Playing as a lightweight character with good handling can help you get a grip on the high speed. Overall, either method is effective, but it comes down to personal preference.
