Picture Pieces are the main collectibles in Kirby Star Allies. In the same vein as the StreetPass Mii Plaza’s Puzzle Swap, Star Allies’ Picture Pieces are used to complete celebration pictures. There are nine celebration pictures, and each one requires 80 Picture Pieces to complete. That’s a grand total of 720 Picture Pieces you will have to collect. Needless to say, if you’re a completionist, you will have to farm for them. Although Picture Pieces are earned in the game’s extra modes, there’s a particularly effective farming method that is available right from the beginning!
Course Farming
Your Picture Piece farming takes place in the first level, Green Gardens. In the first room, inhale Blade Knight and copy the Sword ability. Continue through the stage until you find Burning Leo – throw a Friend Heart at him and use his fire element to create the Sizzle Sword. With the Sizzle Sword at your command, you will be able to clear most of the level’s puzzles and receive Picture Pieces in return. Make sure to toss a Friend Heart at Chilly halfway through the stage and use his ice element to cool down a set of fiery logs.
Upon clearing the course, you can earn an additional Picture Piece by winning the Goal Game. A good run will net you 12 or more Picture Pieces in five minutes or less. If you have access to amiibo, you can tap up to seven figurines to earn even more Picture Pieces. Remember, amiibo figurines that depict Kirby characters will reward you with two pieces instead of one. If you scan Kirby, Meta Knight, and King Dedede amiibo from both the Super Smash Bros. series and the Kirby series, you can earn over 25 Picture Pieces in a single playthrough.
Contribution to 100% Completion
Completing each celebration picture does not count towards 100% completion, but viewing the unique art styles and throwbacks of each one makes collecting all those Picture Pieces worthwhile. Keep in mind that future updates to Kirby Star Allies may add additional celebration pictures – if that happens, you might need to take a look at this guide again!
