How to train an Incineroar amiibo in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

A complete summary of Incineroar’s performance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate can be found on the character’s information page. It includes strengths and weaknesses, quirks in artificial intelligence, and an archive of tournament representation and results.

Recommended Training

An amiibo becomes strongest when it is mirror matched all the way to Level 50 with its Learn button switched on. For more information on effectively raising an amiibo, follow this link. Here is a complete breakdown of Incineroar’s moveset and which options to focus on during training:

  • Neutral: Incineroar boasts a wide variety of damage-racking options. Its jab, forward tilt, and neutral aerial are all fine options, but his side special Alolan Whip is by far and away its best. Alolan Whip deals incredible damage and knockback; additionally, Incineroar’s AI always times the move perfectly. Rotate these moves to rack up damage on your FP.
  • On-stage KOs: Forward smash, up smash, and down smash are all great finishers. As previously mentioned, Alolan Whip is extraordinarily strong and should be heavily prioritized as your main KO move.
  • Above-stage: When launched upward above the stage, Incineroar’s top priority should be to return to the ground safely. Its neutral aerial serves as a solid landing option, though its poor range leaves Incineroar vulnerable to long-ranged attacks.
  • Off-stage: Incineroar’s off-stage game is rather weak, as its recovery tends to turn any interaction into a disaster. It is best to entirely avoid off-stage play where possible; that being said, for bold trainers, Incineroar’s down aerial does spike in a pinch.

    Stats & Spirit Effects

By all accounts, the best Spirit effects in the game are Super Armor, Slow Super Armor, Armor Knight, and Autoheal. Unfortunately, these bonuses are prohibited in competitive play; if you do not intend on entering online tourneys, all of them work well with Incineroar. For trainers looking to participate in tournaments where these Spirit effects are banned, here are a handful of alternate options: Additional Midair Jump, Side Special ↑, Fire & Explosion Attack ↑, and Physical Attack ↑. In terms of stat spreads, Incineroar generally favors offense to close out stocks as fast as possible; setups between 2800 / 1400 and 2100 / 2100 are viable options to consider.

Please note that Incineroar is currently banned from the vanilla amiibo metagame; as such, this training guide is for referential purposes only. For more information, read this article.
