The Shiny Charm has appeared in every main series Pokémon game since Black 2 & White 2 back on Nintendo DS. Given Pokémon Legends: Arceus and its status as a main series game, it’s no surprise that the Shiny Charm is back and better than ever! Today, we’re going to discuss how to find the Shiny Charm, what its odds are, and how you can put it to good use. Light spoilers are ahead, so be careful!
Shiny Charm Location
This time around, just catching every Pokémon isn’t enough. No, this time, you have to level up every Pokémon’s Research Level to 10. This includes Manaphy, Phione, and all of the other Legendary Pokémon — but not Darkrai and Shaymin. Those Pokémon can only be obtained if you have save data for Let’s Go and Sword & Shield. Getting every Pokémon to Research Level 10 is no easy task, but once you do, the Galaxy Corps will host a celebration to commemorate your accomplishment!
You’ll also receive the Shiny Charm as a present, and it increases your chance of finding Shiny Pokémon. Just like in previous games, it increases the odds from 1 in 4096 down to 1 in 1365. That means it roughly triples the chance that you find a Shiny Pokémon, which comes in handy! Especially considering that Shiny Pokémon can spawn in the overworld.
How do you put this to good use, you may ask? You can use our mass outbreak Shiny hunting guide to find Shiny Pokémon within just a few hours. We assume you’ll also be able to transfer these to Pokémon HOME in a future update (which hasn’t been released at the time of writing). As usual, if you have any questions, feel free to join our Discord community! You can also browse more of our Pokémon content and guides via the links below. Have fun!
