Looking to farm some Rupees in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom? We’ve got two different sections below: how to farm Rupees using glitches and how to farm them without glitches. Before you continue, check your version of the game — depending on the updates you’ve installed, you might be able to use some handy and easy-to-use glitches to effortlessly max out your Rupee counter. Let’s get started!
Farming Rupees with Glitches
There are several easy ways to farm Rupees using glitches. To maximize your efficiency, however, you’ll need a few diamonds. The Jochi-ihiga Shrine near Tarrey Town offers a diamond as a reward. If you’re playing on version 1.1.1 of the game or earlier, you can duplicate this diamond. To do so, jump off a short ledge and open your paraglider. While it’s open, pause the game and hold the items you want to clone. Then, press the Y and B buttons at about the same time. If done correctly, you’ll drop the items on the ground and keep them in your inventory.
From here, you can sell diamonds to vendors for 500 Rupees a piece. That being said, there’s a much easier way to turn these diamonds into cash. Fast travel to the Lookout Landing Skyview Tower, take out a horse from the Mini Stable, and position it under one of the wooden ledges. Then, Ascend through the ledge and make sure you’re able to jump off the ledge and onto the horse. If you can, then you’ve just set up an infinite money glitch! Here’s what to do from here:
- Stand on the ledge and press the R button.
- Select a random item to throw (something common like an apple).
- Jump off the ledge and pause the game just before you land on your horse.
- Hold the items you want to clone (in this case, some diamonds).
- Press the – button to open the Adventure Log and then watch a memory. Skip the memory by pressing X and then +.
- Hold the exact same items you were holding before, and in the exact same order.
- Unpause the game, land on the horse, and head over to the vendor selling armor pieces.
- You won’t be able to talk to the vendor unless you press R and select a common item to throw. After pressing R, you’ll be able to talk to the shopkeeper without throwing the item.
- Talk to the shopkeeper and sell all of your diamonds.
- Exit the selling menu and then go right back into it. Your diamonds will still be there, and you’ll be able to sell them again!
Every time you sell your stack of diamonds, you’ll have to close the selling interface and reopen it. The more diamonds you have at the start of this glitch, the faster you’ll be able to earn money. This glitch works on Version 1.2.0 of the game and earlier, but the item duplication glitch we mentioned earlier only works on Version 1.1.1 and earlier. If you’re playing on 1.2.0 and can’t gather up a good stock of diamonds, try defeating a bunch of Talus-type enemies. Find a Rare Stone Talus on an interactive map and save before you defeat it. If it doesn’t drop a diamond, reload your save and try again. You can also try exploring caves!
Farming Rupees without Glitches
As you might expect, farming Rupees takes much longer if you don’t use glitches. If your version of the game is incompatible with the glitches above (or if you want to have a “super-pure” playthrough with no glitches), we’ve got a few potential farming methods here. Ironically, we mentioned defeating Talus-type enemies in the previous section, and this works here too! You can note the locations of each Stone Talus on an interactive map. Each one drops an assortment of gems, and Taluses respawn after every Blood Moon. You can sell these gems to vendors and make some decent money. Rare Stone Taluses drop more gems than the other kinds, so try going for those.
If you’ve got some Legend of Zelda series amiibo, they’ll come in handy here too. Each one drops a bunch of items, so fast travel to a location with a shop nearby and scan a bunch of figurines in. A few amiibo have a chance of dropping gemstones: Breath of the Wild Zelda, Zelda & Loftwing, Wind Waker Zelda, Super Smash Bros. Zelda, and Daruk. If you’ve got any of them lying around, you can use them once a day for a little money bonus!
It’s also a good idea to explore caves and destroy all of their ore deposits. If you’re going for 100% completion, you’ll need to enter every cave in Hyrule anyway. Might as well finish two tasks at once, right? It’s a bit ironic that all of the best farming methods involve gemstones, but it’s easy to see why — they sell for quite a lot. Basically, as long as you have lots of gems, you won’t have to worry about your finances.
If you’re looking for places to spend all your money, try purchasing Hyrule Compendium images from Robbie or upgrading your armor with the Great Fairy. At any rate, we hope this helped!
