Diddy Kong is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Super Smash Bros. series Diddy Kong amiibo was released on December 14th, 2014 as part of Wave 2.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Diddy Kong is currently placed in the C tier in Super Smash Bros. 4. Diddy Kong boasts many interesting options, including a solid set of smash attacks; his forward smash in particular strikes twice and often catches opponents off-guard. His jab and tilts also come out quick and rack up damage fast.
However, Diddy Kong’s AI suffers from several annoying tendencies. It tends to overuse its aerials and down smash, and even misuses its recovery by waiting too long to charge its up special, Rocketbarrel Boost. Even when used correctly, Rocketbarrel Boost is a subpar recovery move due to its charge time.
Overall, Diddy Kong has accrued poor tournament results and representation, and is notoriously remembered as one of the most underrepresented characters in Smash 4. Diddy Kong had no consistent trainers throughout the metagame’s lifespan.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Diddy Kong was noticeably nerfed for his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. His few buffs include a faster movement speed and his smash attacks have increased KO power.
However, Diddy Kong’s Rocketbarrel Boost was significantly worsened, as its travel distance has been reduced. Monkey Flip has more ending lag and his grab is much slower.
Overall, Diddy Kong has received below-average tournament results and representation. Just like in Smash 4, the character is not necessarily bad but is instead severely underrepresented. Diddy Kong is almost never seen in competitive tournaments and has no consistent trainers.
