amiibo Wiki: Inkling

Inkling is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Super Smash Bros. series Inkling amiibo was released on December 7, 2018 as part of Wave 11. The Splatoon series Inkling amiibo can also be used as Figure Players.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Inkling is a unique combo-based character with quick attacks and powerful finishers. Its moveset revolves around and is bolstered by ink, which runs out over time and needs to be replenished by shielding and pressing the special move button. Some of its attacks – namely Splattershot and Splat Roller – cover enemies in ink, causing them to take more damage from consecutive attacks. Among other strengths, Inkling has a great recovery, strong KO options, and an impressive aerial game.

However, Inkling suffers from terrible AI; it often overuses its Splat Roller and walks directly off-stage to its death whilst using it. The AI also fails to consistently restore its ink, leaving many of its moves weakened or outright useless. This crippling flaw means Inkling often struggles to KO its opponents, as its strongest finishers require ink to properly function.

Overall, Inkling has accrued below-average tournament results and is considered one of the weakest Figure Players in the game. Despite this, MiDe (who is credited with training the strongest Inkling amiibo) has won several tournament champions with Inkling, though every other instance of the character has failed miserably in brackets.
