Mii Gunner is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Super Smash Bros. series Mii Gunner amiibo was released on November 1, 2015 as part of Wave 7.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Mii Gunner is ranked as a C+ tier fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4. Miis are an uncommon sight in the metagame, and the Mii Gunner is perhaps the most common of the three types; it is essentially an improved version of Samus. The Mii Gunner’s special moves – most notably, its neutral and side specials – serve as great camping options. Its moveset is overall rather fast and has above-average range.
Unfortunately, Mii Gunner does suffer from several flaws. Its smash attacks are pitifully weak, making KOing difficult. Its AI has a few quirks as well; it tends to camp, meaning it rarely closes in to try and KO the opponent. It occasionally uses its down special as a melee attack, which leaves it vulnerable.
Overall, Mii Gunner has achieved below-average tournament results and representation and was rarely seen throughout the Smash 4 metagame’s lifespan. DONkLE and Supernova are known to have trained Mii Gunners, but they did not win any standard tournaments.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Mii Gunner was dramatically buffed for its appearance in Super Smash Bros., and is considered the most improved character during the transition from 4 to Ultimate. The most notable improvement for Mii Gunner is the strengthening of its Gunner Missile; both versions deal much more damage and Super Missiles can now KO as early as 110%. This allows Mii Gunner to rack up damage from afar via camping; this strategy has allowed the character to pick up many tournament wins.
Gunner Missile aside, Mii Gunner’s base moveset was somewhat nerfed; however, a well-trained Mii Gunner Figure Player will generally only use its forward smash, up smash, and Gunner Missile. This means the nerfs to its other moves do not affect the character at all in the amiibo metagame. As a result, Mii Gunner has objectively improved from Smash 4 with no significant nerfs.
As a result of its incredible buffs, Mii Gunner has accrued phenomenal tournament results. The most notable examples of strong Mii Gunner amiibo are Flara and Stephanie (trained by Vintro and Cloud, respectively); they have each racked up several tournament wins and have helped cement the character’s top-tier status.
