Mr. Game & Watch is a playable character in Super Smash Bros. 4 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. The Super Smash Bros. series Mr. Game & Watch amiibo was released on September 25, 2015 as part of Wave 6.
In Super Smash Bros. 4
Mr. Game & Watch is ranked as a C+ tier fighter in Super Smash Bros. 4. Between his neutral attack, forward tilt, and down tilt, Mr. Game & Watch has no shortage of damage-racking options and can finish off weakened opponents with one of his powerful smash attacks. His forward smash is particularly strong and inflicts increased damage when the tip of the torch connects. Mr. Game & Watch can also use his side special, Judge, to take a gamble; if he gets lucky, the attack will be a one-hit KO.
As one of the lightest characters in the game, however, Mr. Game & Watch’s defenses are quite literally paper-thin. This trait can be taken advantage of by stronger fighters, namely Bowser and Ganondorf. Mr. Game & Watch also suffers from a slow moveset; many of his best finishers are plagued with considerable ending lag. The character’s AI also tends to overuse its aerials and may launch itself with its up special at random.
Overall, Mr. Game & Watch has received below-average tournament results and representation. SFPT and FarmingSim, among others, both trained a Mr. Game & Watch amiibo, but have not achieved any significant results with the character.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Mr. Game & Watch received a mix of buffs and nerfs for his appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Along with an increase in mobility, Mr. Game & Watch enjoys a stronger overall moveset and decreased startup on his down smash. His new forward aerial boasts improved edgeguarding potential, opening the possibility of gimps at early percentages.
However, Mr. Game & Watch has received several notable nerfs. His forward tilt’s hitbox is smaller, his down tilt has had its windbox removed, and his new forward aerial has increased landing lag.
Mr. Game & Watch is thought to have improved considerably from the previous title and has accrued average tournament results but below-average representation. Blank is one of the character’s only trainers and plans to achieve better results in the future.
