To those of you who aren’t yet members of our Discord community, we’ve been hosting a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe event every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. EST! It’s open to anyone interested, and we’re just competing to see who can get the highest score. It’s also a great chance to play some of the DLC tracks if you don’t currently have access to them — indeed, you can play on them yourself as long as someone in your online lobby has them downloaded.
We usually play races in voice call, but you don’t have to join that if you don’t want to — we’ll have the details in a text channel so you can join that way instead. Mario Kart 8 is over eight years old at this point, but February 2022’s Nintendo Direct is breathing new life into it! On March 18 of this year, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is receiving an update with two new cups and eight new courses. It’s free for subscribers of the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack, and it costs $24.99 for non-subscribers. Do note that that $24.99 is paying for 48 new courses, not just the eight of them releasing in March. Here’s a breakdown of all the new courses!

Mario Kart has never been faster! 200cc sets the power of the engines to their maximum and offers some of the most challenging gameplay in the series. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe includes just one unlockable character – Gold Mario – and in order to unlock him, you’re going to have to clear each cup on 200cc difficulty with at least one star.

The Gold Glider is one of the most elusive kart pieces in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it can only be unlocked by collecting a massive 5,000 coins (it was 10,000 in the original Mario Kart 8)! Though you could just race with friends for a few hundred hours, there are faster ways to farm coins in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
