Things have been pretty quiet in terms of main series Super Mario games lately. In fact, we haven’t received a new game since Super Mario Odyssey in 2017 (if you don’t count Bowser’s Fury, that is). That being said, today marks the beginning of a new step of sorts for the franchise with the reveal of the Super Mario Bros. movie via today’s Nintendo Direct.
Apparently, this movie has been in the works for over seven years and is just now nearing completion. They’ve even got Koji Kondo working on including classic music tracks from the games in the film itself! After some discussion with members of the cast, we get a short preview of the movie revealing voices for Kamek, Mario, Luigi, and Bowser. It’s not a very long trailer, but there will be several more over the coming months. Stay tuned!
Today’s a packed day for Nintendo fans! Later today we’ve got the reveal of the Super Mario Bros. movie, but for now we have a brand new trailer for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. If you’d like to watch the trailer yourself without any spoilers, you can do so right here — otherwise, we’ll quickly recap it!
The trailer confirms once and for all that any Pokémon can have any Tera type, so there are no restrictions to Terastralization strategy! TMs are single-use again, but you can craft them at Pokémon Centers. More importantly, however, the trailer revealed a new evolution for Girafarig called Farigiraf! A new mechanic called Pokémon Picnic has also been detailed. This is apparently how you receive Pokémon Eggs now (instead of a Day-Care facility). It remains to be seen if this will make Shiny hunting faster or slower!
Pokémon Scarlet & Violet launch on November 18, and we’ll be releasing lots of helpful guides at around that time. We hope you look forward to it! In the meantime, we’ll probably keep reporting on trailer updates as they come.
The Sephiroth, Pyra, Mythra, and Kazuya amiibo figures have been officially announced for ages — but now we’ve finally got our first look at two of them! These figurines were on display alongside the upcoming Splatoon 3 amiibo at a convention. No Pyra or Mythra in sight, but they’re still on their way! We also don’t have a release yet for any of them just yet, so hang tight.
