The Raid Boss amiibo tier list’s character placements, explained

In case you aren’t already aware, we recently updated our Raid Boss tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Unlike our other tier lists, this one specifically is more subjective because you can’t really rank Raid Bosses using tournament data. To help clear up any potential confusion, we’ve put together a list of every character on the tier list and why they’re ranked in their respective tiers. Do note that this post covers the Raid Boss tier list as it appeared on March 17, 2022 — it’s possible that we update the list in the future.

The vanilla amiibo tier list’s March 2022 update

It’s been a few months since our last update, but the community’s official tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate amiibo training has received a new revision! This version raises Roy, Bowser Jr., and Min Min by one tier each. It also adds Pyra / Mythra and Sephiroth, who haven’t appeared on any of our tier lists up until now. You can check out the full list right here.

If you haven’t seen, we’ve also updated our Raid Boss tier list. We’ll have a new post coming out in the next few days that explains the placements of each character, so please look forward to it! We also created our first official Spirits amiibo tier list, so feel free to check that out as well when you get a chance.

In terms of site plans, we’ll be covering content for Kirby and the Forgotten Land later this month! Things like collectible locations and perhaps boss guides or something of the sort. At the time of writing, there isn’t much going on with amiibo training, so that’s why we’ve shifted focus a bit. Thanks for understanding! As always, you’re welcome to join our Discord community if you have any questions about the tier list or its character placements.

amiibo Tier List Update: December 8, 2021

Here we have the final update to the official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tier list — that is, the last one this year! We’ve got a ton of changes to go over here, as this one of the largest updates we’ve had in quite a while. New characters were ranked, too! If you’d like to see the full tier list, you can do so right here. Let’s get right into the changes, then!

  • Incineroar moved up to its own SS tier. Terry, Byleth, King K. Rool, Mii Gunner, and Bowser (in that order) now make up the S tier.
  • Hero moved up to A+ tier.
  • Captain Falcon moved up to A+ tier.
  • Banjo & Kazooie moved up to A tier.
  • Cloud moved up to B+ tier.
  • Yoshi moved up to B+ tier.
  • Meta Knight moved down to C tier.
  • Ken moved down to a revised D tier.
  • Min Min added to A+ tier.
  • Steve added to B tier.

It’s true that Sephiroth, Pyra / Mythra, and Kazuya’s amiibo files are present in the game, but we aren’t quite ready to rank these characters yet. We’re working on guides for them (as well as Steve), but these aren’t quite ready yet either. To get the latest information on our amiibo training content, feel free to drop by our Discord community. Thank you!

amiibo Tier List Update: September 1, 2021

It’s the first of the month, and you know what that means: our amiibo tier list has received a slight update! Compared to the previous revision, there aren’t as many changes here, but they’re ones well worth reading anyway. Here’s everything that’s new in today’s update:

  • Snake moved up to A tier.
  • Meta Knight moved up to B tier.
  • Villager moved up to C+ tier.
  • Cloud moved down to B tier.
  • Young Link moved back down to C tier.
  • Toon Link moved back down to C tier.

That’s everything, then! Villager, in particular, has been getting a surprisingly impressive number of results lately. If you’d like to learn how to train your own, feel free to read our guide! If you want to train an amiibo but don’t want to train Villager, be sure to check out our full list of training guides instead. The full tier list can be found right here.

amiibo Tier List Update: July 1, 2021

Hey everyone! Exion’s official tier list has been updated, and we’re here today with a brief list of what’s changed since the last version (which was released in May of this year). From here on out, we’re going to try to revise the list every month, so we hope you look forward to more frequent updates! Without further ado, then, here’s a list of all the changes we just made:

  • Hero moved up to A+ tier.
  • Lucas moved up to A tier.
  • Ganondorf moved up to A tier.
  • Captain Falcon moved up to A tier.
  • Mega Man moved up to B tier.
  • Falco moved up to B tier.
  • Young Link moved up to C+ tier.
  • Pichu moved up to C tier.
  • Snake moved down to B+ tier.
  • Ice Climbers moved down to C+ tier.
  • Zero Suit Samus moved down to D+ tier.

Another important note here: the D tier was removed from the list and combined into D+, which means that’s now the lowest rank. Big thanks to Exion’s tier list council (which hosts update discussions via Discord) for revising the list! If you’re feeling motivated to train an amiibo now, check out our complete collection of training guides and get started! The full tier list can be found right here.

P.S. We used a brand-new format for the amiibo tier list’s update today! It was created by fammydamammy, and if you’d to make your own list you can check out how through this link. Enjoy!
