Community Wiki: Amiibo Dojo

The Amiibo Dojo (2015-2017) was the largest and longest-running amiibo training archive. It specialized in amiibo training guides and content and was one of the first blogs to do so. It was created by Cloud in late 2015 and was eventually dissolved into Cloud Nine in 2017. Exion Vault’s current amiibo training content can be considered an extension of the Amiibo Dojo’s work.

History

Cloud posted his first amiibo training guide to the Reddit amiibo community in January 2015. At the time of posting, nothing was known about amiibo training, so this guide was the first of its kind. As time passed, the posts became more popular, and this newfound popularity soon warranted character-specific guides. Eventually, there were too many guides to keep track of on Reddit, so they were ported to a test blog to gauge viewership. The test was a runaway success; the blog was renamed Amiibo Dojo and made official.

From 2015 to 2017, the Amiibo Dojo released Super Smash Bros. 4 amiibo training guides for every fighter in the game. It hosted many official tournaments and won several more, quickly making a name for itself as a credible amiibo training source. In June 2017, the Amiibo Dojo was dissolved into Cloud Nine, a general gaming site that eventually became Exion in 2019.

In summer 2017, popular Smash Bros. YouTuber Alpharad gave the site a shout-out on one of his videos. This helped attract many newcomers to the amiibo metagame. The Amiibo Dojo’s content (particularly its tier list) has also appeared on Choctopus, Captain Kidd, and ZeRo’s channels.
